Parks

Today K and I went to for a walk and a play in the park. We were gone for an hour and a half. It was hilarious because D was out when we left, and by the time we finally got home he was asleep on the sofa.
It was a glorious day and K loved the swings.
Not much else to report. The weather is getting colder, the days shorter. It's still quite glorious every day with that lovely warm sunshine. It's quite a delight in Autumn, Sydney is.

Trouble with the law

Well it's a dramatic title, but really it's to do with my ethics application at uni. Looks like they're going to fail it, not because it's bad ethically, mostly because the lawyer who needs to pass it doesn't know diddly squat about constructivism and experiential learning theories. So he's going to do some research, ask some questions and get back to me.
Coincidentally my horoscope today said I would have contact with the law. One of those serindipodous occasions that happen once every seven years or so.
I'm listening to explosions in the distance, which usually means there's fireworks on the harbour. Either that or world war three has started. One time it happened a gas depot about 5 miles away blew up. The photos in the paper the next day were spectacular.
Today, I'm told there was fog around Sydney. I did see it through the trees, but it's hard to get a judgement of the extent of things from our flat because you can't see the fog for the trees. (ha ha ha)
Other than that It was a glorious spring day - for autumn. Worked in the afternoon - Screen titling. That class seems to think I have nothing to teach them. I beg to differ. They're doing a titling class and didn't know the difference between a serif and sans serif font. Humph.
D has gone out to see a Berber friend tonight so I'm on my own again. Quite nice actually.
K can get quite stressful when she's in her hyper mode. I asked D today if she's like that with him and he says yes. Crazy baby.

Mother's Day

Ah! Mothers day. The day when mums all over Australia are pampered and loved. I got the best present yet - an extra 3 hours sleep. D got up early and I took the opportunity to go back to bed - a luxury unheard of in the past 17 months. I got up (wait for it) at the fabulous hour of 10.15am. BLISS!! Actually feel rested and human.
I also got a beautiful bunch of flowers. And a home cooked lunch.
I'm in the process of finishing a cardigan for K, so I've been knitting lately, something that has to give way for study.
Talking of study, my poor students are getting a test this week, so I have to come up with something inventive. I've been dropping hints about what I might include, so I suppose I'd better include at least some of them in the test.
(Insert maniacal evil laughter hand wringing)
D took K shopping this morning which accounted for the sleep in. I think he wanted to buy a video camera but he can't spend more than a certain amount on his bank card. We'll get it soon, me thinks.
I'll be looking forward to it.

Slippery

Wednesdays and Thursdays are busy for me because I do a fair bit of teaching on those days.
This afternoon is the screen titling course, and here I was attempting to do a comparison between hand animation and doing stuff in Max. I think I succeeded in proving that max is quicker, and possibly that I'm not too good in Premiere. OH well.
Anyway D worked this evening, so we did a handover in Crows Nest where I took bubs and took him to work. Actually worked quite well, never having done the touch tag thing before.
K in the bath this evening was hilarious. It's one of the first times I've allowed her to play with the soap, which of course was slippery. She chased it all over the bathtub, with much hilarity. Then she tried to eat it, and everytime I made a face and went blah she giggled. Very funny.
Now of course I'm battling to get her to sleep so I can do some study. Mmmm. Not succeeding too well.

Peace at last

D has taken K out for a bit so I can get some work done. She's being quite naughty with me, tantrums are the order of the day, even after I took her on an early morning walk. Sheesh!
The past few days the weather has been utterly glorious for the month of May. Warm, up to 27 degrees (something like 6 over the average) on one day, so it doesn't feel like late autumn at all.
I'm just polishing off my ethics application and dusting off the lit review I want to get both finished by Wednesday. K decided she didn't want a daytime sleep yesterday, which made it very difficult to get anything done with a tired and upset baby. Managed to get her to sleep about 4.30 and she and I crashed till about 6 after which time I got up and made dinner and woke her up to eat. She FINALLY got to sleep around 9.30 after much encouragement. I swear, this blog is becoming baby central.
Work on Friday was a doddle. Ran into the other 3D teacher and we're going to have a natter next week. We need a united approach to the course, methinks. I'm enjoying teaching very much. Cause it's part-time I can't take it too seriously. So no politics, no backstabbing, just go in, do the class, go home. Such a glorious relief from other places.
Right, now I've got a few moments of peace, it's time to study. Cheers.
